On February 7, 2024, as a gesture of sending warmth and care to the students remaining on campus during the chilly winter and to celebrate the arrival of the Chinese New Year, LVTC held the 2024 Chinese New Year Cultural Exchange Activity for Chinese and International Teachers and Students. The event witnessed the gathering of 20 international students from countries such as Indonesia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Zambia, as well as Chinese students and teachers. Liu Zilin, Secretary of the Party Committee of LVTC, and heads of relevant departments joined the teachers and students in celebrating this festival.  Meanwhile, leaders and police officers from the Exit-Entry Administration Detachment of Liuzhou Public Security Bureau, Guantang Police Station, Jianpanshan Police Station, and other agencies were also invited to the event for cordial interaction with students and teachers.

During the event, the team led by Liu Zilin visited student dormitories to extend their care and concern to students staying on campus, inquire them about their holiday arrangements, and present New Year gifts. They also put up Spring Festival couplets with the students. Liu Zilin shared with the international students the two ways of pasting the Chinese character fu, meaning “good fortune”, and joined them in pasting the fu character. While presenting the students with the fu character, he also wished them a happy new year.

The police officers and Chinese students and teachers of LVTC patiently guided the international students in making dumplings, through which they tasted traditional Chinese food and experienced the charm of Chinese traditional culture. Mahez, a student from Indonesia, expressed his surprise at the diversified methods of dumpling-making and hoped to learn each one. He also expressed gratitude to the teachers and police officers for their care.

Organizing various characteristic celebration activities during traditional Chinese festivals has been one of LVTC’s regular cultural exchange activities since the launch of international student programs. These activities have been highly praised by both Chinese and international students. Through these activities, both Chinese and international students can immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere, feel the care from LVTC, and gain a deeper understanding and experience of traditional Chinese culture.
